It happens very rarely for a group of four young musicians to reach such a proficiency in playing together at such short notice. Erlendis Quartet stands for perfection, deep commitment as well as original artistic creations.
I met Erlendis Quartet for the first time during International Guitar Contest in Olsztyn where I served in the panel of judges. They delighted me with their incredible freshness, their music creations turned out to be incredibly fresh, vigorous, even rebellious. Listining to them, I thought: finally, it’s the music I want to listen to.
I heard the Erlendis guitar quartet recently in Aschaffenburg, Germany and was really impressed with their amazing musicality and their great sense of dynamics. They use dynamics as I haven?t heard before in guitar ensembles. Being a soft instrument, the classical guitar has a narrow margin of dynamics at disposal but when used in its full potential the result obtained can be truly outstanding. Recordings tend to compress the liveness of these dynamics and so, I highly recommend this wonderful quartet in a live experience. You might be as nicely surprised as I was.
Four young musicians with a vision! ... fully united in their passion for musical details, they enchant the audience not only by their technical perfection but also by their phenomenal sound variety... Erlendis Quartet is undoubtedly one of the best classical guitar ensemble worldwide!
I feel obliged to share my thoughts and emotions with people reading this recommendation, related to the art of Erlendis Quartet. I have to confess, that I rarely feel such a deep artistic satisfaction as well as the autentic joy of listening to the music while being at the concerts of Erlendis Quartet. What is very special about their playing is that they listen very carefully to each other, taking care of every single sound. Also, they seem to understand the silence between sounds. A joy coming out from their music is based on a great sense of articulation and colours. Sometimes we can feel like 'the sounds and scents circulate in the evening air', that we are exactly there, where Claude Debussy wanted us to be while listening to the music.
